The San Diego Glycobiology Symposium

San Diego, CA

January 8–9, 2010

The 13th Annual San Diego Glycobiology Symposium will take place at the Kona Kai Resort in San Diego, California. The symposium is jointly organized by the UCSD Glycobiology Research and Training Center (GRTC) and the Sanford Children's Health Research Center of the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. This annual symposium brings together laboratories in San Diego that have a primary or major interest in Glycobiology. Several laboratories from other California campuses will also be represented. The objectives are to exchange information on the latest advances in the field, and to promote interactions between members of these laboratories and other attendees from academia, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. To maximize interactions the setting will be informal.

Confirmed speakers include: Linda Baum (UCLA); Carolyn Bertozzi (UC, Berkeley); Lars Bode, Biswa Choudhury, Jeffrey Esko, Richard Schwab and Ajit Varki (UCSD); Richard Cummings (Emory); Marilynn Etzler (UC, Davis); Hudson Freeze, Michiko Fukuda, Minoru Fukuda and Peter Seeberger (Burnham Institute); Gerald Hart (Johns Hopkins); Mitchel Kronenberg (La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology); Bruce Macher (San Francisco State University); Jamey Marth (UC, Santa Barbara); and Pamela Stanley (Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Each speaker will provide an overview of ongoing research in his/her laboratory. In addition to oral presentations, there will be a poster session open to anyone.
